Holistic Management can help

Healthy land through holistic management

Holistic Management is all about improving the health and productivity of the land by working with nature to help land managers create sustainable enterprises that keep them on healthy land for the good of the whole.

  • Holistic Management is a framework for better decision-making that is based on careful planning for success. It begins with a written “holisticgoal” that determines:
  • common values and the quality of life desired by the decision-makers;
  • forms of production available to management which can produce the desired quality of life,
  • and the future resource base envisioned that can sustain the forms of production far into the future.
  • actions and non-actions are tested with a set of questions designed to assess the effect of the proposed action on all aspects of the whole and determine whether or not it moves the operation toward the holisticgoal, as well as the triple bottom line of social, economic and ecological sustainability.

    Holistic Management International Texas or HMI Texas is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization founded in 1987 as Holistic Resource Management of Texas, Inc. or HRM) to offer training and support to practitioners of holistic management in Texas and surrounding areas.

    To reach more people and provide more information and support, we have formed a strategic alliance with Holistic Management International, based in Albuquerque and teaching land stewardship skills worldwide. HMI Texas is focusing these universal skills on the issues and landscapes of Texas. Together we are building a synergy and brand consistency that is strengthening the Holistic Management message in Texas. The end result will be more land that is healthy with families that are reaching their goals and a sustainable future for everyone who eats food, drinks water or breathes air.

    HMI Texas produces educational conferences, seminars, classes, field days and other forms of experiential learning for its members and the general public; transforming people’s relationship with the land through awareness of its impact on every aspect of life, using the power of holistic management.

    Membership consists of ranchers, farmers, urban and suburban land lovers, managers of public and private lands of any size, agency personnel and academicians.
