a fresh look at what they have learned before. Ian will teach a half-day each
on:

of Holistic Management Planned Grazing and getting it in Sink with Energy Cycles
in Nature
3) Fencing
and Watering Strategies to maximize the benefits of High Density Grazing
4) Understanding
the Brittleness Scale and the effects of animal impact
This training will be limited to 30 ranchers. Each day a different 10 of the
ranchers will be “the ones” who can bring forward their individual
questions and challenges for consultation with Ian while the other 20 ranchers
watch and learn, participating in brainstorming and discussions. This is your
chance for individual attention and custom consulting. ($800 members / $850 non-members)
“best job of putting hmi teachings into practice. Learned how
to use different configurations in rotational grazing to accomplish different
results. Ian was great! thank you for bringing him to us.”

“I learned more from Ian than any other educator because
he had done it himself and had learned to go slowly to avoid pitfalls and
be able to make adjustments. In particular he mentioned animal performance,
which is of vital importance and is under-emphasized by most educators.
He has developed a particularly effective and flexible way of using electric
fencing and many other practical tips one learns from a successful rancher
who has done it himself. I have always learned most from successful rancher
practitioners and I think we need to build on this to keep putting on effective
programs.”

“We learned much more than we have time to write.
Some key things.
1. In the Biological monitoring class for the first time I actually
learned to see what I was looking at. Litter 1, Litter 2, worm castings,
etc.
2. I had actually been through Dick Divens class and knew that
it made since to calve in the summer, but could not figure out what to
do with the calves after that. I got the answer at this school.
3. I learned how to work with weaning date, calving date, and
breeding date without sacrificing the health and body condition of my animals.
4. I learned the thinking process of temporary fencing and ways
that we could use them to achieve things that are important to us.
We have already combined our cow herd and our yearling herd, thus increasing
our stock density. We have sold our older bulls and have an order for bull
calves as a stop-gap until we can use our own. We will be moving our calving
and breeding dates this year to better match our correct biological calendar.
This was the best and most motivating Holistic Management school I
have ever attended. I have received lots of information at other schools,
but Ian is practicing HM in the trenches of ranching. That made a big difference
to me.
I'm ready for another one.”
